ITSLIQUID Group, in collaboration with ACIT Venice – Italian-German Cultural Association, is pleased to announce the exhibit THE BODY LANGUAGE 2025 that will take place from February 14 to February 28, 2025, in Venice, at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello and in other prestigious venues and historical buildings, during one of the most spectacular and unique period of the year, the magical Venice Carnival.

In Francine Judd Stock’s sculpture, SOLYPS, two otherworldly beings confront each other in perpetual misrecognition. Each creature, adorned with a single eye, fur, and horn, embodies the philosophical concept of solipsism – the belief that only one's own mind is sure to exist. Drawing inspiration from René Descartes' "Meditations on First Philosophy," the piece explores the fundamental question of how we can verify the existence of other conscious minds. Each being, convinced of its singular existence, interprets its counterpart as merely a reflection of itself, creating a powerful metaphor for our contemporary social landscape. The juxtaposition of materials – the transparency of glass, the tactile warmth of fur, and the primitive power of horn – reinforces the tension between perception and reality. This surrealist assemblage resonates particularly in our current era, where echo chambers and ideological silos increasingly fragment our shared reality. "Solyps" serves as both a philosophical proposition and a mirror to our times, challenging viewers to confront their own assumptions about consciousness, connection, and the nature of understanding others.

"Continuous Narration" is the most recent of my Illuminated Manuscripts, a long-winding series of glass books that was initiated during my graduate studies at Tulane. In this case the text block is comprised of layers of traces of Tillandsia unsneoides (Spanish moss) rendered in glass enamel and fused together with copper lacing. I first noticed what I consider the secret language of Spanish moss years ago on one of my walks in Audubon Park. A fragment had fallen on the ground and suddenly isolated from its cluster, the meandering tendrils of the plant read to me first as a script and then as a drawing.
